Core Values
-
Sustainability
The estate is linked through a micro grid providing renewable energy from our various solar arrays to all the estate buildings.
All the properties on the estate are newly renovated and highly insulated with triple glazed windows.
Cwm Cottage is heated by an air source heat pump and has a water treatment facility installed which deals with all the waste water. The water for the cottage is supplied through a bore hole.
We are 90% plastic bag free in relation to our game bird feed and recycle all the spent cartridges used on the estate.
All our young game birds are bred locally. We take delivery of them early to bring them on in their natural habitat for as long as possible.
-
Community Engagement
We believe in order to successful in our world we need to work with the local community.
The community we have built around the shoot on the Estate forms the core of what we strive for at Edwinsford. Likeminded people of all ages and backgrounds brought together by the shared love and appreciation of the countryside.
All of our harvested game is used in the local economy. Absolutely nothing is wasted.
We are an active part of the Camarthenshire Working Gundog Society, hosting multiple trials across our ground every season.
-
Conservation
Conservation is the bedrock of our work across the Estate. From corner to corner we work tirelessly with our dedicated team to improve biodiversity and available habitat for local flora and fauna.
We have reinstated countless acres of wetlands by digging up old draining ditches to re-flood ponds, splashes and scapes.
We have mapped the invasive Himalayan Balsam and Japanese Knotweed that is choking local waterways and manage it appropriately each year.
Our game crops are all perennial mixes meaning we dont have to replant year on year. This prevents excess carbon release and preserves soil microbiology. We top sections of the crops on rotation to allow a mixed sward to develop over time. This is perfect habitat for nesting birds of all shapes and sizes.
